The Cooperative Ministry
Tax preparation services for low- to middle-income families are available at The Cooperative Ministry's main office. Volunteers work with clients both during the tax season (February 1 - April 15) and post tax season until October 15. Volunteers must certify yearly during our training season (November - January).
Cecil Tillis Community Center
A new site! Cecil Tillis is located near the Drew Wellness Center on Harden Street. It is a community center operated by Columbia Housing.
Rehoboth Global Methodist Church
Easily accessible and located on Two Notch Road near Columbia Place Mall, Rehoboth has a spacious fellowship hall and the staff is very supportive of VITA.
Fairfield County Library
Located in downtown Winnsboro, the Library is a strong supporter of the community and VITA. A much needed site to make free tax preparation services available in Fairfield County.
Garners Ferry Technology Center
This site serves lower Richland and is located in the Richland County Recreation and Technology Center on Garners Ferry Road as you head towards Hopkins.
Hyatt Park
One of the City of Columbia's community recreation centers, Hyatt Park is located across the street from the Eau Claire Town hall at the corner of North Main and Monticello Road. Hyatt Park is traditionally open for tax clients on Saturday's.
Newberry
The Newberry County Library on Friend Street in downtown Newberry hosts the VITA program for Newberry County.
North Star Christian Center
The main campus is located in the Northeast on Longtown Drive and serves the population in northeast Richland County. North Star is one of our larger sites and has plenty of space for volunteers in their beautiful and airy facility.
Orangeburg
The Cooperative Ministry offers VITA services to residents of Orangeburg County at two locations: The Orangeburg Council on Aging and The Methodist Oaks. Click on the title to view and sign-up for shifts at one or both locations.
SC Works
The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce has provided office space and other resources to The Cooperative Ministry's VITA program for many years. Two SC Works Job Centers host the program. SC Works - Columbia is the site for UofSC student volunteers and is currently located at the Business School, and SC Works Lexington is located near Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
Seven Oaks
The Irmo Chapin Seven Oaks Recreation Facility will be offering the VITA program. Seven Oaks offers a variety of activities that's sure to keep you busy, ask about their programs while you are there.
USC School of Law
The VITA site is run by UofSC Law School's Director of Pro Bono Services. Most of the volunteers are USC law students, but there is room for more!
